SOLUTIONS IN ACTION
| Technology-Savvy Law Firm Uses Fortis to Go Paperless |
Would you like to use Twitter to contact your lawyer? Some clients of Peterson Law Group in Bryan, Texas would much rather tweet than make a phone call. "If they can break down their issues to 140 characters or less – that's how we communicate with them," said Chris Peterson, a principal with the firm. Using electronic document management to administrate the flow of information is another way the firm employs technology to better serve clients.
Peterson Law Group, with offices in Bryan and Conroe, Texas, handles business, family, and real estate law, plus estate planning. "When the firm was established in 2008, we knew we wanted to convert our attorneys' existing records and go to a paperless office system, but we weren't sure of the best way to do it," said Peterson.
Peterson worked with Agnitek, a Westbrook reseller based in College Station, Texas. "The consultants at Agnitek suggested Fortis because they thought it was good fit for us. The price point was a lot better than some of the other software we were looking at and Fortis has the functionality we need," Peterson said. >>Read more |

Westbrook Webinars:
Westbrook Education and Training:
Have you ever thought how great it would be if you could quickly get your users trained on the tasks in Fortis they’ll need for their jobs, but only the tasks they need? You just don’t want them spending time in a class learning about features they won’t use. Well, we’ve listened to your requests, and in response have added Fortis User Fast Track to the 2011 Education calendar. Fortis User Fast Track is 14 prerecorded presentation Web sessions, from the basics in Session 1: Overview to advanced setup in Session 9: Creating Templates and Scripts, intended to show the user what they need to know, and only what they need to know. Once everyone has attended the Overview in order to gain an understanding of Fortis in general and the terms used, you can pick and choose which session or sessions will help your users. An instructor presents up to 45 minutes of information on a particular subject. Since the Fortis User Fast Track sessions are not “hands on,” as many people as you need educated may sit in on a session without worrying about setting up a classroom and configuring computers. A cup of coffee, a pen or pencil, a pad or notebook, and a willingness to learn all the great things Fortis can do for them, that’s all each student needs to bring. Coffee optional.
If you’d like to read more about Fortis User Fast Track, visit our Web site at http://www.westbrooktech.com/support/Fortis_User_Fast-Track_description.html
Contact your Westbrook Partner or the Westbrook Director of Sales for your area if you would like to discuss which sessions would work best for you and your users.
You can register for one or more Fortis User Fast Track sessions on our Web site at http://www.westbrooktech.com/education_signup.asp. Only one person needs to register in order to provide us with contact information; not every student needs to register separately. Everyone must attend Session 1 in order to prepare for any other sessions they wish to attend. The schedule of all our classes can be seen on our Web site at http://www.westbrooktech.com/support/schedule.html.

Five Green Business Trends for 2011
by Kelly Spors
It’s wasn’t so easy being “green” when the economy was blue. But as the U.S. economy looks brighter in 2011 – as most hope and expect it will — businesses will be more focused on long-term sustainability.
A key part of that is environmental sustainability.
Environmentally responsible business practices are quickly becoming a top priority for many businesses, as more realize the financial benefits and competitive advantages that come with it. But being a “green business” now and in the future will demand even more transparency over green practices and less tolerance for fuzzy green marketing.
Here’s a look at some green business trends to expect in 2011:
1. Charting progress and success. Many big corporations like Microsoft and Walmart are creating teams of employees focused exclusively on environmental sustainability and have executives to oversee those teams. This will undoubtedly raise the bar for every company, large and small. More businesses will weave environmental sustainability into their business plans and budgets, writing full-blown sustainability plans and benchmarking their progress.
