Fortis Server and Workstation Hardware and Operating System Specifications

These specifications apply to Fortis version 2.4.  Fortis SE 2.4 specifications are the same except for the database engine which is supplied and is Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express edition.

Fortis with Microsoft SQL 2005 Embedded database engine specifications are the same as for the Fortis product.

64 Bit operating systems and virtual operating systems (workstation or server) are not supported at this time but efforts are underway to add these to the list of supported platforms.  Check our web site for updates as well as our publications.

These are the system specifications for running Fortis 2.4 as of 11/29/2007

Fortis Shared Client Application Server
Processor:   Intel Pentium IV 1.5GHz / AMD Athlon 1.3 MHz minimum, faster processors are recommended.
Operating System:    Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2003 R2 Server (32 bit version only at this time).
RAM:    2 GB minimum
Minimum Free Disk Space:   1.5 GB
 
Database Server  
Processor:    Intel Pentium IV 1.5 GHz / AMD Athlon 1.3 GHz minimum, faster processors are recommended.
Operating System:    Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2003 R2 Server (64 bit or 32 bit versions).  Fortis for Oracle can run on any ODBC compliant operating system.
DBMS:    Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005;   Fortis SE version 2.4 and higher runs Microsoft SQL 2005 express. Oracle 8.0/8i, 9i, 10g
RAM:    2 GB minimum
 
Fortis Application Administration and Database
Administration stations:
Processor:   Intel Pentium IV 1.5 GHz / AMD Athlon 1.3 GHz minimum, faster processors are recommended.
Operating System:   Windows 2000 Professional; Windows XP Professional 32 bit version; Vista Ultimate or Vista Business 32 bit versions.
RAM:   1GB or more recommended.  (Windows Vista operating systems may require more RAM than the same Fortis station running an earlier Microsoft operating system).
 
Scan Station
Processor:    Intel Pentium IV 1.5 GHz / AMD Athlon 1.3 GHz minimum, faster processors are recommended when scanning using OCR, processing to a Full Text index, using Image Enhancement or any combination of these functions.
Operating System:   

Windows 2000 Professional; Windows XP Professional 32 bit version; Vista Ultimate or Vista Business 32 bit versions.

RAM:    1 GB minimum, 2 GB or more recommended.  (Windows Vista operating systems may require more RAM than the same Fortis station running an earlier Microsoft operating system).
 
Edit Station  
Processor:    Intel Pentium IV 1.5 GHz / AMD Athlon 1.3 GHz minimum, faster processors are recommended.
Operating System:    Windows 2000 Professional; Windows XP Professional 32 bit version; Vista Ultimate or Vista Business 32 bit versions.
RAM:   

1GB or more recommended.  (Windows Vista operating systems may require more RAM than the same Fortis station running an earlier Microsoft operating system).

 
View Station  
Processor:   

Intel Pentium IV 1.5 GHz / AMD Athlon 1.3 GHz, faster processors are recommended.

Operating System:    Windows 2000 Professional; Windows XP Professional 32 bit version; Vista Ultimate or Vista Business 32 bit versions.
RAM:   

1GB or more recommended.  (Windows Vista operating systems may require more RAM than the same Fortis station running an earlier Microsoft operating system).

Processor:    Intel Pentium IV 1.5 GHz / AMD Athlon 1.3 GHz. faster processors are recommended.
Operating System:    Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2003 R2 Server (32 bit version only at this time).
RAM:    2GB or more recommended. 
  
Fortis Web Server  
Processor:    Intel Pentium IV 1.5 GHz / AMD Athlon 1.3 GHz, faster processors are recommended.
Operating System:    Windows  2003 Server, Windows  2003 R2 Server since IIS 6 is the only version of IIS support on the server OS at this time.  (32 bit version only at this time).
RAM:    2GB or more recommended. 
   
Fortis Web Client Workstation
Processor:   Intel Pentium IV 1.5 GHz / AMD Athlon 1.3 GHz, faster processors are recommended.
Operating System:   Windows 2000 Professional; Windows XP Professional 32 bit version; Vista Ultimate or Vista Business 32 bit versions. Internet Explorer versions 6 or7.
Ram:  

1GB or more recommended.  (Windows Vista operating systems may require more RAM than the same Fortis station running an earlier Microsoft operating system).

  
     

*Note: Customers may wish to implement a RAID solution for storage. Westbrook Technologies strongly encourages customers to follow 2 important guidelines.

1) Use only Microsoft WHQL certified IDE/SCSI RAID solutions.
